Edo Murtic was born in 1921 in Valika Pisanica, Croatia. He lived primarily in Zagreb beginning 1925 and through the remainder of his life. Zagreb is also home to the School of Applied Arts where he studied and subsequently graduated from the Academy of Fine Art in 1943.
Edo Murtic participated in over 200 exhibitions worldwide.
Emotional charge is the real content of his work, while the canvas is but a screen on which the emotions of the soul - enthusiasm, joy, anxiety, panic, fear - are projected. The subject foundin the real landscape enters the subjective inventory of the artist, the latter including his artistic language and choice of color.
